)-- The Special Event Company has been nominated for one of the top honors to be presented at the 2018 Special Events Magazine Gala Awards on Feb. 1. The nomination for Best Event for a Non-Profit Organization recognizes a special program produced this year by The Special Event Company for the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) as part of its 2017 National Jamboree in July.
The “BSA Jamboree Philanthropy Program,” a 10-day donor relations event for the BSA Office of Philanthropy, was designed to support the future development of the Summit Bechtel Reserve National Scout Camp in West Virginia. The program was held in conjunction with the 2017 National Jamboree, which welcomed 40,000 people to the Summit Bechtel Reserve for one of Scouting’s largest celebrations of adventure, service and conservation.
The Jamboree Philanthropy Program hosted 80 donor families, over 900 guests, 25 groundbreaking and dedication ceremonies, VIP dinners each evening and separate addresses by national and political dignitaries and VIP donor guests.

Nominations for the prestigious Gala Awards are announced annually by the advisory board of Special Events magazine. The awards will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1 during The Special Event in New Orleans, La., an industry trade show. The Special Event Company has won a total of eight Gala Awards since 2001.
