Florida Adopts Maine Publisher's ELA Program for High School Students

Portland, ME, February 28, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Florida Department of Education has announced that the Florida Academic Support Program for English Language Arts, Grades 9–12, has been officially adopted by the state’s Office of Instructional Materials and is now available through the Florida School Book Depository. The Florida Academic Support Program for English Language Arts, Grades 9–12 (or “ASP”) is published by Walch Education, based in Portland, Maine.

The ASP is a complete, turnkey solution for improving educational performance, and is ideally suited for after school, summer school, tutoring, or to enhance daily curriculum. Written to address Sunshine State Standards, it contains up to 80 hours of instruction, student practice, and critical-thinking activities.

This marks the first time that the Florida Department of Education has selected supplemental educational materials for inclusion in its adoption process. Following rigorous review, the Florida State Instructional Materials Committee unanimously endorsed Walch’s Florida Academic Support Program for English Language Arts, Grades 9–12. The adoption period runs from April 1, 2008 through March 31, 2014.

“This is extremely gratifying for all of us,” notes Walch Education president Al Noyes. “We’ve been working closely with leading districts throughout Florida, and the entire United States, to develop contemporary, practical, and affordable materials based upon explicit classroom needs. Having the ASP adopted confirms our approach: by partnering with active, thoughtful educators, we are providing real value to the classroom.”
