Stimulating Maths Challenge Engages NSC Students

Oswestry, United Kingdom, January 19, 2018 --(PR.com)-- North Shropshire College (NSC) Maths students recently took part in an interactive lesson designed to test and develop their problem solving and question interpretation skills. The lesson was organised by Jo Millington – Curriculum Area Manager for Maths and English at the College, and was based on the Krypton Factor Gameshow which originally aired in 1977. The show, which ran for twenty series and was last shown on screens in 2010, saw contestants competing in a variety of rounds to test their mental and physical abilities.

The session included a competition between different teams of students, where topics within the current Maths syllabus were covered. The scores of each team were recorded during each challenge to promote and encourage the students to use their speaking and listening skills.

Jo comments, “This has been an excellent opportunity for the students to develop skills that are critical for their course and for their future in the workplace. We are delighted by the enthusiasm shown by the students during the session and how they have progressed during their studies so far, and I hope sessions like this will help their skills develop further.”
