The Cleveland Police Department's 2nd District to Distribute Thousands of Warm Undergarments to The Metanoia Project, to Directly Benefit Homeless Population

Cleveland, OH, February 02, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Cleveland Police Department's 2nd District to Distribute Thousands of Undergarments to the Homeless for The 4th Annual Sock & Underwear Drive.

Captain Keith Sulzer, Sgt. Timothy Maffo-Judd will bring collection of goods to The Metanoia Project this Friday, February 2nd at 7:30PM.

The Metanoia Project, a Cleveland-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Cleveland’s homeless population by providing overnight shelter and support through its outreach efforts is pleased to once again partner with The Cleveland Police Department’s 2nd District for the 4th Annual Sock & Underwear Drive.

Led by Sgt. Timothy Maffo-Judd, the Second District headquarters began collecting socks, underwear, and other winter undergarments, via donations from the community, back in early December. To date, their efforts have brought in “several thousands” of items including socks, underwear, warm clothing, jackets, hats, and gloves. Sgt. Maffo-Judd, along with Captain Keith Sulzer, will bring these items to The Metanoia Project, located at 2459 Washington Ave. Cleveland, 44113 (in the St Malachi Parish building), this Friday, February 2nd at 7:30pm.

"One of the biggest needs of our guests are new undergarments, especially during the cold winter months," stated Megan Crow, Executive Director with The Metanoia Project. Crow added, “We thank the Second District for facilitating this wonderful outreach effort and thank the community for all their generous donations.”

“In 2015, Sgt. Mitch Sheehan, who started this program, met with leadership of The Metanoia Project and learned of an acute shortage of undergarments for the homeless in our community,” stated Captain Keith Sulzer. “Sgt. Maffo-Judd has since taken this project on and has worked judiciously to collect these valuable items.” Sulzer added: “The response from the community has simply been tremendous.”

While the donation will take place this Friday, the Second District will continue to collect new undergarments for both men and women through February. Those who wish to donate can drop off new items in person to the Second District Headquarters, located at 3481 Fulton Rd. Cleveland, 44109.
