College Students Develop Work Skills at Ironworks Centre

Oswestry, United Kingdom, March 22, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Several North Shropshire College (NSC) Independent Living / Foundation Studies students have been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to gain a valuable two weeks work experience at the British Ironworks Centre, near Oswestry.

The centre is a very popular visitor attraction and the students have been helping out with various activities in different departments during their two weeks with the company. The students have developed their customer service skills in the café serving customers, and have been busy assisting showroom staff with stock handling and setting out merchandise, as well as helping the housekeeping staff with caretaking and cleaning duties around the site.

Sarah McManus, Personal Assistant to Clive Knowles at the British Ironworks Centre comments, “It has been great to support the College in hosting the students here for their two weeks work experience. We feel this is an important time to support young people in experiencing the world of work, and we hope they have learnt a lot of new and important workplace skills during their time with us.”

Daniel Hopkins, one of the NSC students adds, “I have really enjoyed my time on work experience. I especially liked working in the stockroom and packaging orders for customers.”
