"Passionate Parenting: How to Raise Kids Who Are Joyful, Resilient and Authentically Themselves" - Free Presentation by Susan Stiffelman, MFT

Pacific Palisades, CA, March 05, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Family therapist and parent coach Susan Stiffelman will be speaking at the Westside Waldorf School in Pacific Palisades, California this Thursday, March 6th at 7 pm.

Ms. Stiffelman is the author of the upcoming book, Passionate Parenting: How to Raise Kids Who Are Joyful, Resilient and Authentically Themselves.

Passionate Parenting is an approach to raising kids that does not presume that the best way to control and manage their behavior is... to control and manage their behavior. It is based upon her work as a teacher, educational therapist, licensed marriage and family therapist and (most importantly), mother of a 17 year old son.

Passionate Parenting starts with the notion that the only person we can ever control is ourselves. Susan teaches techniques - beyond taking a deep breath or counting to ten - that truly work, and allow parents to reclaim the place of being in charge, without using force, threats, bribes, or the overpowering that might work in the short term - you do manage to get the kid in the car by threatening to take away their new toy - but that damages the parent/child sense of connection.

The presentation on Thursday, March 6th is free and open to the public.
