2nd-Grader Creates Art Website for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Fundraising

Cherry Hill, NJ, April 02, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Zachary is an 8 year old artist from Cherry Hill, NJ who loves to draw. He has an aunt who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and he wanted to raise money for research for a cure. He decided to raise awareness for CF and encourage donations in a unique way, posting a new drawing nearly every day to his site http://myfreecartoons.com. Every year he participates in Great Strides, with this year’s walk happening on May 6th in Gloucester County, NJ. Right now Zachary is one of the top donors. Zachary says, “I hope that people donate and that I inspire kids to draw.” He also would like to start another art site that exclusively features the art of children who are ill.

Scott and Linda, Zachary’s parents, have encouraged his idea to share his creativity for a good cause. They helped him set up a structure around his idea by purchasing a web domain, Squarespace hosting plan, and business cards that promote the site. They see it as an important step in helping Zachary develop a sense of advocacy, leadership, assertiveness, self-confidence, and community responsibility, while at the same time, making sure that the project remains creative, fun, and driven by Zach’s ideas. They have begun approaching local businesses in-person with requests for CF walk sponsorship, in exchange for featuring their business on the site. In these impromptu “pitch sessions,” Zachary is the first one to present his project, including all of the pertinent details.

The first businesses to sponsor Zach are Chick's Deli and Allergy and Asthma Consultants of NJ-PA. Zachary hopes to add additional sponsors and raise over $5000 by May 6th. He continues to add new features to the site. The most recent addition was a photography after he received a digital camera. “It’s a lot of fun,” Zachary says. “And I feel really good doing it.”
