Marlborough, MA, May 04, 2018 --(PR.com)-- As part of its ongoing efforts to promote Marlborough as a destination for visitors and events, the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has redesigned and relaunched its website Visit-Marlborough.com. Through a sleek new design and mobile-friendly interface, Visit-Marlborough.com showcases the city’s attractions, sporting venues, and meeting facilities, as well as its dining, hospitality, events and entertainment options.

Visit-Marlborough.com is part of MEDC’s larger campaign to promote Marlborough as a regional event and tournament destination that not only features world-class sporting and conference venues, but can also accommodate and entertain thousands of visitors at once.

Marlborough is home to some of the region’s largest and most prestigious sporting venues, including the world’s largest indoor ice skating facility, New England Sports Center (NESC). After a recent 90,000 SF expansion, NESC now spans over 306,830 SF and has atotal 150,000 SF of ice surfaces, including eight NHL-size and two studio-size rinks. NESC draws over 1.2 million visitors every year and has the capacity to host up to 120 games per day.

New England’s first indoor and outdoor sports megaplex,ForeKicks, the official training facility of USA Softball, All Star Sports Academy, and the state-of-the-art training center and headquarters of Special Olympics of Massachusetts (SOMA) are also based in Marlborough. The city hosts over 100 large-scale sporting events every year, including the Hero’s Cup Hockey Tournament, USA Hockey Girls National Championships, U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships,SOMA Tournament of Champions and Cal Ripken New England Regionals Baseball Tournament.

With 11 hotels, 1,898 rooms, and 692,770 room nights available annually, Marlborough is also the Massachusetts community with the largest concentration of hotel rooms outside of Greater Boston. The city’s hospitality venues boast over 93,000 SF of meeting space, with its largest venue, the Royal Plaza Trade Center, hosting close to 50 major trade events every year. More than 60 restaurants across Marlborough offer a wide range of cuisines, representing the city’s diverse cultural mix.

The region’s largest entertainment and hospitality complex, The Apex Center of New England, is also based in Marlborough, where, in addition to two hotels, about a dozen restaurants and various other amenities, visitors can enjoy a large variety of experiential spaces and activities, including indoor go-karting, virtual reality arena, sports simulators, axe throwing, trampoline park, bumper cars, escape rooms, laser tag, bowling, arcade games and more. The management of the 150,000 SF Apex Entertainment, which houses the majority of these entertainment options, say the center attracted close to 100,000 visitors during the April school vacation week alone.

“Marlborough is now home to the region’s largest entertainment center and the world’s largest indoor ice skating facility,” said Harris. “These are accomplishments that we should be shouting about from the rooftops and we are.
