FL-3 Airboat Search and Rescue Welcomes Aboard Dr. Richard Deichmann, Physician and Author

Tampa, FL, March 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Florida-3 Airboat Search and Rescue, Tampa, Florida is pleased to announce the addition of Richard Deichmann, MD, of Ochsner Medical Center, New Orleans as the newest member of the team and medical liaison.

Doctor Richard Deichmann is author of Code Blue: A Katrina Physician's Memoir.

Doctor Deichmann was chief of medicine at Memorial Medical Center in August 2005, when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.

Doctor Deichmann graduated from Tulane medical school and completed his training in Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. A native of New Orleans, he moved back to his hometown after completing his training in 1986 and had practiced at Baptist Hospital until Katrina. He continues his work as a physician, teacher and clinical researcher at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.

Florida-3 Airboat Search and Rescue was formed shortly after the flooding of New Orleans, caused by Hurricane Katrina. Following Hurricane Katrina, it was recognized that rescue teams of this nature were necessary to accommodate the potential of future flooding, due to these types of disasters. FL-3 Airboat Search and Rescue is currently composed of volunteer police and fire rescue personnel, willing to donate their off duty time in this capacity in hopes to accomplish this mission.
