KIB Teams with Calvary Church Volunteers for Two Beautification Projects

Irving, TX, July 20, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Volunteers from Calvary Church Irving and Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) know how to wield some paintbrushes.

Calvary Church volunteers recently teamed with KIB to pour 123 hours into brightening two of Irving’s treasures, the Jackie Townsell Bear Creek Heritage Center and Hurwitz Park.

They started in June with Jackie Townsell Bear Creek Heritage Center, one of Irving’s most historic sites. Calvary’s “Loving our City” group painted one of Bear Creek’s pavilions as well as the front porch railings and supports at the Green House, which has been restored to depict authentic 1920s life in the Bear Creek community.

On July 14, designated “SERVE Day,” a Calvary Church team of volunteers, along with KIB, descended upon Hurwitz Park. Paint cans and brushes in hand, they worked a total of 87 hours freshening the park’s three pavilions.

“Keep Irving Beautiful reaches out to Irving’s diverse faith community in many ways,” said KIB Board Member and Faith Groups’ Chair, Rachel Moon. “Calvary Church has been an outstanding example of what a dedicated group of volunteers can do when they partner with KIB to give back to the community.”

Their members frequently participate in KIB’s large cleanups, including the Trash Bash and the Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off. They also have done a paint project at Heritage Park and a tree planting at Wyche Park.

“The name of their group ‘Loving Our City’ is a perfect description of who they are. They really do love the city where they worship and where many of them live,” added Moon. “We always can count on Calvary Church to give of their time to help in a variety of projects.”
