SmartVolunteer Partners with Good News Broadcast

New York, NY, March 13, 2008 --(PR.com)-- In an effort to drive skill-based volunteering to the forefront of volunteer recruitment and engagement, SmartVolunteer has partnered with Good News Broadcast.

On Thursday, February 21st, SmartVolunteer was interviewed by Paul Sladkus, Executive Producer of Good News Broadcast.

“SmartVolunteer was founded to fill this critical void in the volunteer placement arena. The organization’s mission is to connect skilled professionals with volunteer opportunities that utilize their professional expertise while at the same time providing nonprofits and charities with a venue in which to acquire the experienced and expert individual volunteers necessary to fill the critical needs of their organization”, said Executive Director Mary Roben.

The centerpiece of SmartVolunteer’s efforts is its website located at www.smartvolunteer.org. The website was built with the unique focus of providing tailored searches for skill-specific volunteer projects. The site allows prospective volunteers to signup in a quick and easy fashion, register their detailed skill set and professional experience and search for projects based on factors such as skills, time commitment, location and nature of organization. Nonprofits can post the detailed requirements of volunteer projects on the website for volunteer viewing and application. The site also includes a social and business networking component that consists of a membership directory for posting professional and educational information, photos and non-profit affiliations and also includes messaging functionality for member-to-member communications.

To-date, over 280 local, regional and national non-profits and charities have partnered with SmartVolunteer to offer over 560 volunteer opportunities, including: the American Red Cross, ASPCA, Big Brothers, Big Sisters of New York City, Doctors Without Borders, Housing Works, and the Jewish Coalition for Service.

SmartVolunteer’s founding team is a diverse group of professionals consisting of a non-profit management consultant (Moshe Bellows, Esq.), a corporate attorney (Howard Felson), a software engineer (Jeff Schlanger), a strategy consultant (Nir Altman) and an entrepreneur (Dan Abelon). The organization’s Executive Director is Mary Roben.
