Gulfport Area Churches to Host Sept. 11 "Blessing of the Badges" for All First Responders and Providers in Harrison County

Event, co-hosted with the City of Gulfport, Gulfport Main Street, Feed My Sheep and Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, to feature worship service and block party.

Gulfport, MS, August 09, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Gulfport-area Ecumenical Fellowship, a consortium of churches from across geographical, denominational and racial lines, will host Harrison County’s first “Blessing of the Badges” and block party for first responders serving in all departments within the county’s boundaries. The event, which will be hosted at the First United Methodist Church of Gulfport, 2301 15th Street, and, weather permitting, along 15th Street and 23rd Avenue, will begin at 5:30 p.m. on September 11.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. with a pre-service concert by the Gulf Coast Wind Ensemble. All first responders and providers are invited to gather on the steps of Gulfport’s City Hall, directly across the 15th Street from the church, at 5:20 p.m. to join a bag-pipe and drum-led processional into the service. Immediately following the service, at 6:30 p.m., all participants will be able to enjoy an outdoor block party featuring food by Feed My Sheep, children’s activities by Lynn Meadows Discovery Center and live music by Casual and the Uptights.
