The event commenced with Mr. Michael J Cruz, Managing Director, LexisNexis South Asia, giving a very warm welcome address to the august gathering. Mr. Cruz said, “The new Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code is undoubtedly, a significant reform. This book is a result of the collaborative effort between LexisNexis® & author Mr. Ashish Makhija, to bring out an authoritative content on the subject.” This was followed by the captivating words and narratives by Hon’ble Mr. Justice S. Ravindra Bhat. He praised Mr. Ashish Makhija in capturing the comprehensive and dynamic nature of the bankruptcy law in this book. He particularly emphasized the analysis done by the author on each section of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (Code) and the way he has interpreted it in an easy to understand manner. Mr. Bhat suggested the book to be a must have for insolvency and bankruptcy law practitioners, insolvency professionals, judges, chartered accountants, company secretaries, bankers, corporates and other entities including personal guarantors to corporate debtors covered under the spectrum of this Code.

Dr. Vishwapati Trivedi, Former Secretary, Government of India graced the audience with his ever-encouraging words. He said, “the book is a comprehensive commentary on the bankruptcy law of India, which seeks to consolidate the existing framework by creating a single law for insolvency and bankruptcy.” In his opinion the book not only covers different aspects pertaining to insolvency resolution, liquidation, and bankruptcy of corporate persons, individuals, sole proprietorship and partnership, but provides certain futuristic ideas which brings depth into this reference title.

CMA Sanjay Gupta congratulated the author Mr. Makhija and LexisNexis® for bringing out the book on bankruptcy law of India. He complimented the way the provisions of the new law have been interpreted in the book and pointed out the importance of the critical analysis of various provisions of the Code with references to the Report of the Bankruptcy Law Reforms Committee and the UNICITRAL Legislative Guide on Insolvency Law.

Mr. Ashish Makhija, the author of the book reiterated the fact that IBC is a game changer with practically no guidance to the practitioners and the persons affected by Insolvency or bankruptcy, namely, the creditors as well as the debtor himself. The book fills the void and acts as useful guide to the practitioners, insolvency professionals, researchers and students. He was overwhelmed by the response from the audience and concluded by giving vote of thanks with due credit to the Team LexisNexis, family and friends.

The main event was followed by High Tea and interaction with Mr. Ashish Makhija.
