23rd Annual a Toast to the Triangle Takes in Record Breaking Proceeds

Raleigh, NC, March 12, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Mary Freeman, president and CEO of the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities, has announced that the 2008 A Toast to the Triangle™ raised more than $212,000, a record breaking amount for the annual fundraiser. The 23rd annual Toast was held on Sunday, March 9 at North Carolina State University’s McKimmon Center in Raleigh. More than 1,200 guests were in attendance, including the event’s honorary chair, Olympic gold medalist and current Dancing With The Stars participant Kristi Yamaguchi.

Media Sponsors for the 2008 Toast included ABC11, BP Studios, Curtis Media Group’s 680 WPTF and Y102.9 FM stations and Women’s Edge magazine. The night’s single-largest donation came from the live auction. A lunch with Carolina Hurricanes star Bret Hedican was sold for $3,000. The auction item package allows the winner and three guests to attend a March 24 Carolina Hurricanes practice at the RBC Center. After a personal tour of the locker room, guests will enjoy a two-hour lunch with Bret at the RBC Center’s premier restaurant, The Area Club.

A Toast to the Triangle raises funds for the Tammy Lynn Memorial Foundation, Inc., which supports the children and adults of the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities. The center provides special needs programs for children and adults, including educational services, respite care, early childhood intervention, residential services and a summer program.

The event offers guests samples from over 40 of the area’s finest restaurants, caterers and purveyors of fine wines and beers, as well as friendly competition between the participants for “Best in Show.” The 2007 Toast raised almost $175,000 for the Tammy Lynn Memorial Foundation. The initial fundraising goal for the 2008 Toast was $200,000.

“We are thrilled to announce the outstanding success of the 23rd annual A Toast to the Triangle,” said Freeman. “Each year, we look forward to hosting an event that brings the local community together to support such an important cause.”

“This year’s event exceeded everyone’s expectations,” said Yamaguchi. “To be able to work with an organization that does so much for children with special needs is a wonderful opportunity.”
