Population Health Alliance Announces New Executive Director

Washington, DC, August 13, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Population Health Alliance (PHA) has announced the appointment of Michael Barry, CAE, as Executive Director, effective August 3, 2018. Mr. Barry joins the Alliance with over 30 years’ experience in health-related, non-profit organizations, with a focus on population health and prevention. Recently, Mr. Barry completed a successful 13-year tenure as the executive director of the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM), the leading U.S.-based physician organization dedicated to improving the health of individuals and populations through evidence-based health promotion, disease prevention, and systems-based approaches to improving health and health care.

“I am pleased to welcome Michael Barry as the Population Health Alliance Executive Director. Mike brings many years of experience as an association executive. His depth and breadth of experience, disciplined management style and focus on member value will be vital to working in lock step with the Board of Directors to take PHA to new heights,” said Rose Maljanian, Chairman and CEO, HealthCAWS, and Chairman of the Board for the Population Health Alliance.

In his role at ACPM, Mr. Barry oversaw ACPM’s operations, finances, governance, business development, and the broad array of educational and other programs and activities carried out by ACPM. In 2018 he received ACPM’s prestigious Distinguished Service Award in recognition of outstanding contributions and service in the field of preventive medicine and for leadership in attaining the objectives of ACPM. Prior to coming to ACPM in 1999, Mr. Barry was Associate Director for Information and Health Policy at the Public Health Foundation—a national non-profit organization dedicated to achieving healthy communities through research, training, and technical assistance.

"I am honored to join this prestigious network of members and partners in raising the profile of population health improvement models as key components of health care transformation," expressed Mr. Barry. "I’ve demonstrated a career-long commitment to serving association members and to improving population health, and PHA provides the perfect opportunity to combine my skills and passion.
