Free Meditation Programs Suggest Value of Contemplation and Reflection

Two new programs are being offered at Niantic Community Church that encourage contemplation and reflection. Two different types of meditation inspire participants to explore the beauty of simply being in silence, coloring mandalas or taking a walking meditation.

Niantic, CT, August 23, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Two new programs are being presented at Niantic Community Church that support the importance of contemplation, reflection and slowing down in a culture that is doing anything but. Midday Mandala Meditation is being offered Thursdays from 1-2 p.m. beginning Sept. 6 and will be ongoing through the end of October. No registration is needed and participants can drop in to pray, sit in silence or color a mandala. Mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning “circle” and represents wholeness. The practice of creating them and even just coloring them can be a very meditative experience, slowing us down and helping us to center ourselves amid the chaos of life. Facilitated by Community Minister, Patty Chaffee.

Meditation in Motion is a Saturday program being offered by Carol Vara, Sept. 8, 12:30-3:30 and is open to any adult looking to explore how they can experience meditation while sitting, standing, walking, etc. Meditation in Motion will take place indoors and out weather permitting, is suitable for all abilities, and will include stretching and journaling. Participants are invited to wear comfortable clothing, bring water, a mat, pillow or towel and a journal if possible. Both programs are free and all are welcome. Register by calling (860)739-6208. Niantic Community Church is located at 170 Pennsylvania Ave., Niantic.
