The Premiere The Makeup Show Miami Leaves a Beauty Mark in South Florida

The Premiere The Makeup Show Miami Attracts South Florida and Makeup Mavens Worldwide to Participate in a 2-Day Intensive Pro-Industry Event, With a Focus in Makeup for Editorial Beauty, HD-TV, Latina Beauty and Women of Color.

Miami, FL, March 20, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Powder Group and Metropolitan Events & Production, producers of The Makeup Show successfully presented the premiere The Makeup Show Miami on February 24th & 25th at The Miami Beach Convention Center. An intimate show with a real sense of community and artistic energy, The Makeup Show Miami attracted close to 1700 participants from around the world, with a pro-driven legion of beauty and fashion professionals to the shores of South Beach.

The Makeup Show Miami examined the art of makeup via technique and style, hands-on workshops, seminars and keynote presentations. With a built-in educational program, The Makeup Show Miami hosted more than 40 seminars, workshops and lectures by some of the top makeup artists in the fashion & entertainment industry. Classes ranged from Latina Beauty, Editorial Beauty and Airbrush Basics to the Perfect Bride and Makeup for Women of Color, to name a few. The Makeup Show Miami featured a cast of presenters including Billy B, Leslie Lopez, Myles O’Reilly, Marietta Carter Narcisse, Eve Pearl, Leslie Christin, Orlando Santiago, Michael DeVellis, James Vincent, and Johnny Lavoy.

The Makeup Show and On Makeup Magazine sponsored a special preview and demonstration of The Makeup Show Miami “Look” created by Lead Artist, James Vincent. Inspired by Cuban Café Culture, the “look” for The Makeup Show Miami captured the essence of South Beach with glowing skin, dramatic eyes, and sun-kissed hues of sunset golden brown, orange, teal and coral.

There was excitement at the show as several of the brands and exhibitors choose the show to make company announcements and introduce new products and their latest line of cosmetics. Following are some of the key highlights:

Platinum Sponsor Temptu known in the pro-industry for high-definition beauty and professional cosmetic tattoos showcased their range of body art and HD products, featuring a live body artist demonstration by artist CJ. In addition, Temptu President, Michael Benjamin announced the introduction of new Vice President of Consumer Sales, JP McCary, formerly of shu uemura, Bobbi Brown and Trish McEvoy.

Sponsors Alcone and Crown Brush showcased in their booths pro-standard makeup artist tools and other must-haves including new products like Alcone's Lip Stamp and Crown's The Makeup Show Brush - exclusively available for the first time at The Makeup Show Miami.

Stila Cosmetics showed off their new Stila Beauty Lounge at the show. A sophisticated boudoir for all things Stila.

MAC PRO was a hub of color and artistry showing off their new logo, with an amazing new show setup that is designed in the spirit of the recently re-launched MAC PRO shop in New York City.

Make Up For Ever premiered their brand new high-tech makeup line, HD High Definition, which includes the first high-definition foundation that can be hand applied, and powder. Make Up For Ever’s Director of Artistry & Development, Kevin James Bennett was on hand to demonstrate the HD makeup line.

Artist Billy B who gave a standing room only Keynote presentation A Career in Makeup was accompanied by celebrity artist Sharon Gault as his model. The Keynote was also being photographed for Billy B’s upcoming new book, due out later this year.

Linda Mason previewed her exciting new book Eye Candy featuring photos of real women wearing the techniques Mason creates with her product range. Eye Candy will be launched at The Makeup Show New York in May.

Leslie Lopez opened the show with her Keynote presentation on Career In makeup. Attendees had the chance to hear about her early days growing up in Cuba, how she got to her current place in the industry, and see first-hand techniques she used on her past clients Sarah Jessica Parker, Catherine Zeta Jones, Jada Pinket Smith, among others.
