Elwyn Adds First Chief Medical Officer to Executive Team

Elwyn, PA, September 09, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Elwyn, one of the nation’s most-recognized and historical human service providers of behavioral health and developmental disabilities services, today announced that Dr. Kurt Miceli, MD, MBA has been named the organization’s first-ever Chief Medical Officer.

Adding a physician leader to Elwyn’s executive team is a response to the evolving medical needs of the children and adults being served by the organization, and positions Elwyn for growth and strategic development in the future.

Dr. Kurt Miceli, MD, MBA, board certified in both psychiatry and internal medicine, will oversee health care services and quality at Elwyn, in addition to managing a health care practice that provides services to those with intellectual/developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs.

Prior to joining Elwyn, Dr. Miceli was the CMO for Bancroft and President of Marcroft Medical Associates, during which time he led the founding of a new psychiatric and neurology medical practice, transformed the company’s quality assurance functions, and acted as an executive decision maker for all health care matters.

Dr. Miceli also worked at Crozer-Chester Medical Center as Medical Director for Crisis Services and Carson Valley Children’s Aid as Medical Director. His first job in the region was at Fairmount Behavioral Health System where he was President of the Medical Staff, a unit Medical Director, and a consultant psychiatrist to Chestnut Hill Hospital.

Dr. Miceli brings diverse experience, having also worked as a civilian psychiatrist at the United States Army Medical Command, and as both the Chief Resident and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry/Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia Medical Center. For the past six years, Dr. Miceli has taught Health Care Economics for Villanova University’s M.B.A. program as an adjunct professor.

Dr. Miceli received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and his B.S. in Biology and B.A. in Economics from Villanova University. In addition, he is also a graduate of the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia where he received his M.B.A.

Kurt is married to Kaitlin Miceli, Esq., and is the proud father of daughter, Anneliese Margaret, born on July 20, 2018. They live in Newtown Square, PA.
