New LEER Concept Cap on Display at SEMA 2018 - Supports Variety of Advanced Access Technologies
LEER, a leader in pickup truck caps and covers, provides a glimpse into its research and design plans by featuring a concept cap at this year’s SEMA Show - booth #35039, Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall, upper level. Not yet scheduled for production, this cap explores cutting-edge design elements, and includes state-of-the-art access technologies.
The concept cap is featured on a special build by MAD Industries. Installed on a 2019 Chevy Silverado, this LEER concept cap implements refined aesthetics, such as:
· Advanced SUV styling with integrated rear-door spoiler
· Wrap-around window treatment
· A rear door with an ultra-clean look – no visible hardware, no handle, no holes through the glass
· Compound curved rear glass for a sleek transition to the tailgate
· Large tip-out side windows
· Robust, extruded “C” hidden rear-door hinges with robust latching system, accessible by key, hidden keypad, or remotely with a smartphone app
“Customers count on LEER to provide the perfect complement to the trucks they drive. Advancements in technology as well as current design trends will continue to make our covers stand out visually and cater to our customers’ lifestyles,” said Katherine Adams VP of Marketing and New Product Development, LEER. “One of the most interesting aspects of this particular cap is the integration of access technologies directly into the cap, allowing our dealers to provide a more convenient, customized experience to their customers.”
This concept cap can deliver new levels of access control and convenience with keypad entry, keyless entry, and Bluetooth-enabled app entry options. An encrypted touchpad integrated into the cap allows keyless access to the truck bed. Smartphones can also open the cap with a LEER app – an industry first. Future versions of the app may also deliver advanced capabilities within the truck bed.
All aspects of this concept cap are in the early-design and evaluation phase of LEER’s development process. There is no schedule for when elements of the concept cap will be put into production.
