Missouri Foundation for Health Honors Operation Food Search

St. Louis non-profit organization receives $500,000 award over five years.

St. Louis, MO, December 29, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Non-profit hunger relief organization Operation Food Search (OFS) was recently named an Exemplary Advocate Cohort by the Missouri Foundation for Health. As one of only 15 selected organizations in the state of Missouri, OFS will receive $500,000 over five years.

Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH), which awards approximately $45 million annually to health-focused nonprofits, is Missouri’s largest health foundation. The Foundation improves the health of Missourians through partnership, experience, knowledge, and funding.

As part of this honor, OFS will send two team members – Director of Policy and Innovations Trina Ragain and Manager of Public Policy Sarah Swearer – to nine MFH-sponsored annual workshops. All 15 exemplary advocate organizations’ representatives will participate in peer-to-peer learning as well as engage in organizational development, individual and group coaching, and technical assistance provided by MFH.

The program is designed for organizations to generate systems-level change in order to challenge assumptions, shift paradigms, disrupt patterns, and develop new models of thinking as a group that works together.

“It is a huge honor to be named an Exemplary Advocate Cohort,” said OFS’ Director of Strategic Initiatives Lucinda Perry. “We look forward to utilizing the newly developed skills, along with the unique tools and tactics, that Trina and Sarah will learn throughout their five years of training.”

Founded in 1981, Operation Food Search (OFS) is a hunger relief organization that provides food and nutrition education. With a strategic focus aimed at ending childhood hunger, OFS empowers families with a range of programs and services proven to reduce food insecurity and increase access to healthy and affordable food. The agency helps feed more than 200,000 individuals on a monthly basis – one-third of which are children – through a network of 330 community partners in 31 Missouri and Illinois counties.
