Rewarding Others for Community Service on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Contributing to the greater good strengthens the community.

Elizabeth, NJ, January 15, 2019 --(PR.com)-- It is important to consider how community service can help people feel more connected to neighbors and neighborhoods. On Monday, January 21st in support of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, The Gateway Family YMCA encourages members of the surrounding community to honor Dr. King’s legacy by not only giving back and supporting neighbors, but by reflecting on how each act of service is a small part of a larger movement to improve the community.

All branches at The Gateway Family YMCA are providing community service events for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. For more information or to get involved, visit www.tgfymca.org or The Gateway Family YMCA pages on Facebook.

At Ys across the nation, more than 600,000 volunteers provide crucial support that strengthens local communities. “The YMCA depends on the service of others to continue to make an impact in our neighborhoods,” stated Krystal R. Canady, CEO, The Gateway Family YMCA. In Eastern Union County and Northern Middlesex County, the Y relies on the help of volunteers to accomplish its mission and provide a welcoming place for everyone to learn, grow and thrive.

Through the YMCA Annual Campaign and the support of community partners and local donors, The Gateway Family YMCA provides financial assistance for programs and services to those in need. “We’re excited to bring the community into our YMCA and thank them for working together towards community improvement,” added Melynda A. Mileski, EVP/COO.
