Army Head Quarters and the DE&S, UK MoD to Brief on Rotary Safety-Operations and Equipment Management at the Defence Aviation Safety Conference in April

Rear Admiral Jon Pentreath, Commander, Joint Helicopter Command, Army Head Quarters, will present: "Managing Complex and Varied Rotary Operations Whilst Ensuring Safety," covering:

• How JHC manage safety cases and priorities
• Delivering rotary support for the UK armed forces: why safety must be front of mind for all operations
• Engineering and maintenance considerations for platform turn around and rapid deployment

Air Vice Marshal Graham Russell, Director Helicopters, DE&S, UK MoD, will present: "DE&S Strategies to Ensure Safe Operations of UK Helicopter Platforms," covering:

• Creating a safety culture across DE&S
• Optimising airworthiness through a more effective certification process
• Safety standards and metrics
• Ensuring all platforms are mission ready and at full operational capacity

Supported by the Defence Safety Authority (DSA), UK MoD, this highly anticipated two-day event will bring together senior military leaders with responsibility for safety in the aviation domain as well as international defence experts from government and industry.

The conference will be chaired by Lieutenant General Richard Felton CBE, Director General, Defence Safety Authority, UK MoD, who stated, “The aim is to promote cooperation and continuous improvement in military aviation and in developing fields such as cyber, space and unmanned systems. While the primary focus of this event will be on safety in Defence aviation it will also be of interest to those involvement in the acquisition and safe operation of unmanned systems and to those concerned with the certification of all equipment types. The DSA will once again be supporting this event, and I encourage participation from across Defence organisations and industry.”
