Originally starting out of a garage, Wellex’s roots were firmly planted by CEO Shannon Shores in St. Louis on July 1, 2015. After deciding to concentrate primarily on STD testing, the company’s revenue amounted to $2.1 million in 2017. Last year, Wellex’s staff doubled and revenue increased to $3.2 million.

“We’re in the midst of becoming an epicenter for those who need private and discreet STD testing,” says Shores. “I’m proud of what we have been able to accomplish in three years, but this growth is just the beginning for us.”

Employing an expert staff of eight professionals, Wellex coordinates care for customers through a vast network of physicians, communicates test results over the phone, and recommends treatment plans, if necessary. Shannon Shores has always invested her time in people, dating back to 2001 when she earned her master’s degree in social services. A few years later, Shores also decided to invest her money in people – becoming an early-stage investor in the garage-based company. Shortly after, she became a buying partner, was named CEO, and made the company what it is today.
