Keep Irving Beautiful Visits Heritage Senior Center on MLK Day - Staff Speaks with Seniors about Environmental Programs

Irving, TX, January 26, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) paid a visit to the Heritage Senior Center during Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 21. The group spoke with the members and staff about KIB programs, clean public spaces, and methods to take care of the environment. KIB staff distributed blue recycling bags that are used by the City of Irving, and discussed what can and cannot be collected in curbside pickup, as well as other environmental topics. KIB brought recycled books, reusable shopping bags and “Don’t Mess with Texas” calendars for the seniors, who learned about daily efforts to become better environmental stewards.

“We enjoy our partnership with the Heritage Senior Center,” said KIB board member Margie Stipes. “This visit also represents several other partnerships we have. We work with many organizations, including the city’s Solid Waste Services department, which provides recycling for residents; the Friends of the Irving Public Library, which donates library books that we distribute here; and TxDOT, which provides 2019 calendars. This a great example of how groups work together under a common goal, which is what KIB is all about.”

Keep Irving Beautiful is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the community about litter abatement, recycling, and beautification to help preserve the health and promote the social and economic prosperity of the city. As an award-winning affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Texas Beautiful, KIB reaches out to all sectors of the city, including government, businesses, churches, as well as cultural, educational, neighborhood and civic organizations.
