Securisyn Medical Awarded Air Force Contract for Innovation
Securisyn Medical announced today that the United States Air Force (USAF) has awarded the Company a $158,000 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract through the U.S. Air Force Inaugural Pitch Day competition.
Denver, CO, March 11, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Securisyn Medical, LLC, dedicated to inspiring the world to collaborate to make airway management safer, announced today that the United States Air Force (USAF) has awarded the Company a $158,000 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract through the U.S. Air Force Inaugural Pitch Day competition in New Yok City. Under this contract, Securisyn will work directly with Air Force Special Operations Community to enhance the design, packaging and kitting of the Company’s patented airway stabilization system, SolidAIRity™ to help prevent unplanned extubation (UE) or the accidental removal of a life-sustaining breathing tube, which occurs throughout all echelons of the military healthcare system in deployed and operational environments.

This innovative and first-of-its kind pitch competition was presented by the Air Force with the goal of inspiring and accelerating startup creativity toward national security challenges without the traditional daunting challenges of contracting with the military. Dr. Will Roper, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, emphasized the importance of awarding a contract to and paying selected companies in less than a day, instead of making them wait 120 days or more, which could break small companies. “We think we averaged getting you not just on contract, but paid, 15 minutes after your pitch. The fastest we did was three minutes.”
