Although the number of Chinese attorneys has grown rapidly since 1980, the demand for attorneys remains high: they comprise only 0.8 out of every 10,000 people in China. In comparison, there is one attorney for every 265 Americans. In 2005, over 10% of China’s 2000 counties did not have an attorney.
