Securities Litigation Conference Brings Together Regulators and In-House Counsel from Major Banks in Unique Forum

New York City, NY, March 30, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The field of securities litigation is entering a turbulent period. After a relative lull in activity, class-action filings are pouring in by the day and more and more civil suits are going to trial. The subprime credit crunch has ushered in a new wave of litigation with its crest still far out of sight. Complex financial vehicles are leading to complex legal proceedings and a seemingly endless trail of non-tradition litigants.

In response to these issues, on May 28-30 at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York, Legal IQ’s 4th Securities Litigation Conference will bring experts from the SEC, FINRA, SIFMA, CFTC, and NASAA together with in-house and outside counsel from the major institutional banks creating a unique environment for the exchange of ideas between these courtroom counterparties.

Highlights of this program include an in-depth analysis of the controversial Stoneridge decision with Rex Staples, General Counsel for the NASAA and author of the briefs for the Stoneridge case, and legal experts from Day Pitney LLP, Katten Muchin & Rosenman LLP, NERA Economic Consulting, and UBS. In addition, Timothy S. Bishop of Mayer Brown will discuss his role in the Stoneridge case as it relates to class certification with Steven Haber, Head of Litigation at Deutsche Bank (DB), and members of the General Counsel from JPMorgan Chase (JPM) and Lehman Brothers (LEH). In addition, Heads of Litigation, General Counsel and other high-ranking officials at the legal departments from Credit Suisse (CS), Oppenheimer & Co. (OPY), Bank of America (BAC), AIG (AIG), Citigroup (C), CapitalOne (COF), Bear Stearns (BSC), and RBC Dain Rauscher (RY) will be joined by Partners in litigation from Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, Sidley Austen LLP, and Bingham McCutchen LLP to discuss issues ranging from managing parallel civil and criminal investigations and settlement strategies, to hedge fund relationships and e-discovery.
