Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Partners with Keep Irving Beautiful Group; Conducts Cleanup at City of Irving’s Running Bear Park June 8

Irving, TX, June 19, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Members of Irving’s Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints collected 1,300 pounds of trash and recyclables at the City of Irving’s Running Bear Park on June 8. The group of 18 adults and 11 youth completed 87 service hours during the cleanup.

The group’s cleanup service project was a team effort with Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) and the City of Irving’s Parks and Recreation Department.

“The large amount of rain we have experienced this spring tends to bring more litter from other areas,” said KIB Board Member and Faith Groups Co-Chair Rachel Moon.

The City of Irving’s Solid Waste Services Department provided a roll-off container for the volunteers to place the contents they collected, and was later weighed.

“The volunteers were able to collect the litter in the park, near the creek and tree lines and keep it from reaching the waterways and going further downstream. Members of this church have participated in a number of service projects with KIB over the years and they are always a pleasure to work with,” Moon said.

Keep Irving Beautiful is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the community about litter abatement, recycling, and beautification to help preserve community health and promote the social and economic prosperity of the city. As an award-winning affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Keep Texas Beautiful, KIB reaches out to all sectors of the community, including government, businesses, churches, as well as cultural, educational, neighborhood and civic organizations.
