)-- Securisyn Medical, LLC, dedicated to inspiring the world to collaborate to make airway management safer, has announced a new partnership with Meddux™ Development Corp. to support the development of the Securisyn’s new product pipeline, including recent and ongoing contract awards through the U.S. Air Force (USAF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. Meddux is a Colorado-based premier engineering design and development firm for complex medical devices, life sciences, and consumer healthcare products.
Under this partnership, Securisyn will work with Meddux to help generate near-term concept prototypes for the purpose of gaining user feedback and examining product viability around Securisyn’s proprietary integrated restraint system (IRS) technology and related design concepts. Additionally, in preparation for the commercialization of the SolidAIRity™ Airway Stabilization System, Securisyn’s most market-ready device currently under FDA 510(k) review, Meddux will also help to evaluate potential cost-reduction strategies to support long-term scalability.
“We are excited to have selected and engaged a world-class leader in design and development services like Meddux, right here in Colorado, to assist us in our current and emerging new-product development needs for both military and civilian application,” said Mark Bruning, Securisyn Medical’s President and CEO. “Meddux can partner with us on every step with their experienced and proven industry team, from ideation and concept generation to commercialization. From the onset, we were impressed by Meddux’s unique and visionary approach on how to navigate the typical challenges of product development to pave the way for successful outcomes for small medical device innovators like us, and, more importantly, for the patients who can benefit from our novel and lifesaving technology."
“As part of an extensive search, we have identified a number of key factors in selecting the right design partner to support Securisyn’s product development efforts,” said Nam Trinh, Securisyn’s VP of Compliance & Supply Chain. “With a wealth of technical expertise in medical device development and a keen emphasis on the device user experience, Meddux will allow us to maximize program efficiency and eliminate costly mistakes through a meticulously phased approach to design and development.”
“We are excited to be working with Securisyn to address the significant issue of unplanned extubations,” said David Schechter, President of Meddux Development Corporation. “We see a need to improve the standard of care and significantly reduce the occurrence of adverse events relating to mechanically ventilated patients.”
Securisyn Medical intends to use its lifesaving technology to fill an unmet need of civilian and military healthcare facilities globally that deliver care to mechanically ventilated patients in critical care areas, such as intensive care units (ICU), operating rooms (OR), emergency departments (ED), and ground and air medical transportation units.
