Volunteer Opportunities with Junior Achievement of North Florida

Nonprofit needs volunteers for the 2019-2020 school year.

Jacksonville, FL, September 01, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Junior Achievement of North Florida is looking for volunteers to teach their programs to students in the 2019-2020 school year. The nonprofit organization is currently recruiting volunteers to teach their traditional JA programs at Kernan Trail or Twin Lakes Elementary, at the 1K National After School Program and at The Foundation Academy.

“Our JA staff will train each of the volunteers and will provide program kits with a scripted guide and activities for the students,” said Steve St. Amand, president of JA of North Florida. “All the volunteers need to do is clear an hour or so per week over five to six weeks in their schedule to help impact a child’s life. We are currently looking to fulfill specific dates, but as the school year progresses more class dates will be added to the list.”

The JA Career Success program at The Foundation Academy will need volunteers to teach one lesson twice a week for three weeks. The same program will also be taught at Mandarin High School but these classes will be taught in two sessions over two days. They are also looking for volunteers to help teach JA Our Community and JA Our Nation to elementary students at Kernan Trail Elementary or Twin Lakes Elementary and need volunteers to help teach JA Our Community to 1st through 4th-grade students and JA Our Region to 5th through 7th-grade students at 1K Nation After School Program. A list of volunteer opportunities, times and dates can be found at http://bit.ly/VolunteerJANorthFL.

Those interested in volunteering can visit janfl.org or call (904) 398-9944. Each volunteer will be given training prior to the class which will include tips on classroom management, how to deliver the curriculum and how to communicate with teachers and students. The training session typically lasts about 45 minutes. Volunteers will also receive the program kit for their class which contains a scripted volunteer guide, student activities and giveaway items to reinforce what is being taught.

Junior Achievement’s programs are designed for students from kindergarten to 12th grade to teach the principles of financial management and how to become career-ready. The programs are taught by corporate and community volunteers who share their real-world experiences with the students to help them see how what they learn in the classroom can be used when they enter the workforce.
