First Path Day Care Center Helps Working Parents Take Care of Children

This year First Path has opened more childcare places to meet demand in Greater Boston.

Watertown, MA, September 08, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Child care is a labor-intensive industry that relies on dedicated staff like Alexandra Pikus, Program Director at First Path Day Care Center in Watertown, MA. Alexandra has over 40 years of experience in education.

“For over 20 years we have been offering daytime care services not only for local Watertown families, but families from all over Greater Boston,” said Alexandra.

With First Path doubling its children places in September, Alexandra needs to hire a dozen new teachers and new staff members. "We've worked hard to recruit early," she said.

53% of Massachusetts residents live in areas with fewer licensed daycare slots than the young children who need them.

According to statistics, more than 80% of women and 95% of men between 25 and 44 work, meaning those who are parents need affordable and available child care to enter or remain in the workforce. But an annual report by the Center for American Progress’ shows that about 53 percent of Massachusetts residents live in a “child care desert” with few or no options for licensed daycare for kids while parents work.
