In Conjunction with Release of Study Recommending Omega-3 for Cardioprotection, NourishLife Announces Free Sample Give-Away

Study proves that omega-3 can reduce cardiovascular events & triglyceride levels, and Nourishlife responds by adding free samples to its awareness campaign.

Chicago, IL, April 05, 2008 --(PR.com)-- According to an awareness campaign launched by Nourishlife during American Heart Month, incidences of heart disease can be dramatically reduced by taking an omega-3 fish oil supplement containing both DHA and EPA. A recent study published in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings proves NourishLife right. The study establishes the necessity of omega-3 fish oil supplementation in cardioprotection and provides dosage recommendations for general heart health, heart disease, and high triglyceride levels. In the study, 32,000 participants in three controlled trials received omega-3 fatty acid supplements containing DHA & EPA or a placebo. The group that received the omega-3 supplementation showed a 19%-45% reduction in cardiovascular events. Also, a 20% to 50% reduction in triglyceride levels was noted in the patients who received omega-3 supplementation.

The research revealed that the current recommendation of 2 fish-containing meals per week alone does not provide enough omega-3 for secondary prevention (those who have had a heart attack) or in reducing high triglyceride levels and recommends the addition of an omega-3 fish oil supplement to the diet. According to the abstract of the study in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings, “…secondary prevention patients and those with hypertriglyceridemia [high triglycerides] must use fish oil supplements if they are to reach 1g/d and 3 to 4 g/d of DHA and EPA respectively.”

“This reinforces what many doctors, scientists, and researchers have been telling us for years,” says Jason Way, VP of Customer Experience at NourishLife. “Omega-3 supplementation is crucial in prevention of heart disease and in secondary prevention for those who have already experienced a cardiac event. In addition, people with high triglyceride levels can benefit from omega-3 fish oil supplementation through a reduction in their triglyceride levels. By distributing information concerning the dangers of heart disease and the heart benefits of omega-3 supplementation via our awareness campaign, we hope to build a bridge between scientific data and the general consumer.”

In response to the study, NourishLife has announced that it is giving away free samples of Cardio, an omega-3 fish oil supplement specifically designed for heart health. “We realize that by giving everyone a free sample of Cardio, we can help them take the first (and easiest) step in preventing heart disease and maintaining heart health,” notes Way.
