Mi Escuelita Preschool Dedicates West Dallas Campus; The Frank Diaz Campus Will Serve At-Risk Children in West Dallas

Dallas, TX, October 25, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Mi Escuelita will dedicate its West Dallas Campus (4931 Bernal Drive, Dallas 75212) and rename it in honor of the Reverend Frank Diaz, the Presbyterian minster who, along with founders Carolyn Strickland and Helen Pena, was instrumental in the creation of Mi Escuelita Preschool in 1978. The site was previously known as the Good Shepherd Community Center and referred to as Good Shepherd. With the re-naming and dedication, Mi Escuelita recognizes the outstanding role that Reverend Diaz played in creating Mi Escuelita Preschool as an organization that has helped more than 15,000 students in its four decades.

Reverend Diaz and the Presbyterian Church have been long-time partners with Mi Escuelita Preschool in a variety of capacities – from funding and volunteer support to providing space for one of the organization’s newest sites – East Quarter at First Presbyterian Church of Dallas. Additionally, Mi Escuelita purchased the Good Shepherd site in 2014 from Grace Presbytery, providing Mi Escuelita with a stable base in the high-need West Dallas area.

Mi Escuelita’s Frank Diaz Campus provides space to provide high quality early childhood education to nearly 100 young children. The location offers classes in partnership with Head Start of Greater Dallas and Dallas ISD, as well as Uplift Education, and Mi Escuelita’s Private Program.

“Reverend Frank Diaz is an integral part of Mi Escuelita’s history and we are proud to recognize him by dedicating and naming our West Dallas location in his honor,” said Gayle Nave, President and CEO of Mi Escuelita Preschool. “The Presbyterian Church has been an outstanding mission partner with Mi Escuelita and we appreciate the opportunities they have shared with us to educate children and positively impact so many families across Dallas.”
