Closing the Math Achievement Gap for African American Students: New Book Shows Parents How to Make Their Children Excel at Math

New book shows parents how to make their children excel at math.

Washington, DC, April 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Arvin Vohra Education’s recently released book, The Equation for Excellence: How to Make Your Child Excel at Math, is looking to help close the math achievement gap between African American students and their Asian and Caucasian counterparts. The Equation for Excellence shows parents how to motivate and teach their children, how to make informed decisions about their children’s education, and even how to question curriculum decisions made by school administrators.

According to author Arvin Vohra, “I spent a significant portion of my childhood in a predominantly African American neighborhood, and African American culture is still an important part of my life. The Equation for Excellence is particularly appropriate for African American parents who want to see their children surpass their peers in math.”

According to Jared Roland, CEO of RMD Global, “While we do not have full access to demographic data from our retailers, the data that we do have are showing us that sales are strong among African American parents. The Equation for Excellence is fulfilling a need in the African American community that has long been neglected.”
