Estrada Hosts 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, Cruz Honored

Annual awards event featured celebrities from the United States and Latin America.

Miami, FL, April 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Multimedia star Jade Esteban Estrada hosted the 19th Annual South Florida GLAAD Media Awards on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, handed out awards to the Spanish-language media for fair depictions of the LGBT community in television, film and music. Actor Wilson Cruz (My So-Called Life) was honored with the Visibilidad Award and platinum-selling R&B singer Deborah Cox performed. Segments of the event will be broadcast on Bravo. Christine Chavez, granddaughter of Cesar Chavez, presented a Special Recognition Award to the social justice magazine “The Intelligence Report.” Other presenters included Teresa Rodriguez of “Aqui y Ahora,” Jai Rodriguez of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” Frank Cairo of “Paparazzi TV,” and Judge David Young. Celebrities included Dan Renzi of MTV’s “The Real World: Miami” and Reggaeton singer Ivy Queen.

Estrada, who appeared in various hairstyles throughout the evening, presented the award for Mejor Novela (Outstanding Novela) with celebrity talk show host Grenys J of “In Fraganti” to Pablo Portillo and Alonso Espeleta of “Pecados Ajenos” (Telemundo).
