12 NSCS Members Win Truman Scholarship

Washington, DC, April 23, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Twelve NSCS members are among the 65 students selected as Truman Scholars for 2008. NSCS is an honor society inviting freshmen and sophomores.

The Truman Scholarship Foundation, which was started in 1977 to honor President Truman, awards each scholar $30,000 for graduate study, priority admission to several elite graduate programs, leadership training, career counseling and internship opportunities within the federal government.

“NSCS is proud that nearly 20 percent of Truman Scholars are members of the Society,” Stephen E. Loflin, NSCS’ Executive Director, said. “NSCS’ core values are scholarship, leadership and service, and NSCS’ Truman Scholars exemplify these values.”
