Student Housing Firm Holds National Book Drive to Promote Worldwide Literacy

Austin, TX, April 26, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Campus Advantage announced today a partnership with Better World Books, a for-profit social enterprise that collects books across the country and then sells books online to fund literacy initiatives worldwide.

Campus Advantage is conducting end-of-semester book drives at its locations across the United States, raising funds for the National Peace Corps Association (NCPA). In addition to the NCPA, the donated books provide resources and funding for the following organizations: Books for Africa, Room to Read, the National Center for Family Literacy, and Worldfund.

"One of Campus Advantage's core values is giving back to the communities in which we operate, said Dan Oltersdorf, Vice President of Residence Life. “We are excited about this partnership with Better World Books, and the difference we can make by supporting these causes and making a difference in the environment through the sustainable practices of Better World Books."

Since its founding in 2003, the Mishawaka, Indiana-based company has raised $4.15 million for its nonprofit literacy, library and college partners, diverted more than 6200 tons of books from landfills, achieved 1,725 tons of carbon offsets through carbon-neutral shipping (in partnership with carbonfund.org), and created more than 175 full-time jobs with meaningful benefits.
