)-- The surgeons of Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine of Freehold, New Jersey presented a major symposium, “Free Yourself from Hip Pain,” on April 17 at the CentraState Ambulatory Campus Conference Center. Orthopedic surgeon Manuel T. Banzon, MD was the featured speaker and began the evening with his lecture on hip pain, imparting encouraging news of technological developments in hip surgery. “The number of hip replacements is growing each year and will likely continue to do so,” Dr. Banzon reported, “but technology is keeping up, providing advanced surgical procedures, equipment, and joint implants that greatly improve the outcome of hip surgery.” Following his presentation, several patients of Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute shared their experiences with the audience, providing uplifting personal before-and-after stories.
Following the patient testimonials, Dr. Banzon’s partners from Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute joined him in a panel discussion. Drs. Michael Greller (president), Gregg Berkowitz (vice-president), Gerardo Goldberger, James Cozzarelli, and Alan Nasar fielded questions from the audience members, who were pleased to have the expert advice of six orthopedic surgeons at their disposal. The doctors also enjoyed the opportunity to educate and interact with those attending, many of whom have hip pain. They discussed surgical advances such as computer assistance during surgery and new implant technology such as that of the Zimmer M/L Taper Hip Prosthesis components, which enable more precision than ever before. These advances facilitate faster recovery and better results for the patient.
