Business Buying Group's Promotional Codes, Discount Coupon Memberships Triple in Recessive Economy

Allied Business Network, ABN, can save your company by using promotional and coupon codes on business products and services.

Pittsburgh, PA, May 03, 2008 --(PR.com)-- An Associated Press wire story from May 1, 2008 announced that, though consumer spending increased by 0.4 percent in March, inflation was responsible for three-fourths of that increase. Sluggish consumer spending has led media outlets from the Wall Street Journal to the New York Times to speculate a recession for 2008.

Boosting consumer spending is one possibility for recession abatement, according to economic theory. The federal government heeded this wisdom in kind, issuing $168 billion in tax rebates beginning April 2008. However, rebates aren't the only tool available in the economic stimulus arsenal.

Allied Business Network, or ABN, a business and corporate buying group near Pittsburgh, Pa., offers businesses promotional codes and coupons for significant discounts on business items and supplies. Promotional codes, coupons, and discounts available through ABN can be redeemed at retail outlets and service providers such as CDW, Office Depot, UPS, and Hertz Rent-a-Car.

Smaller businesses often have leaner budgets with which to work, so the twin pressures of inflation and recession can strike especially lethal financial blows. Companies consisting of 10 or fewer employees can receive marked benefits from using promotional code or coupon discounts.

“Business are looking for ways to slim down operating costs,” says Jack Bergman, president of Allied Business Network. “Fortunately there are discount programs such as ours that levels the playing field for smaller businesses, and it makes it easier for them to compete. They are seeking out discounts on office supplies, gasoline, and printing costs on the Internet, and they are finding us.”

ABN's members range from corporate CEOs to small business owners to sole proprietors. Each member uses promotional codes, coupons, and discount gift cards to shave dollars and cents off of purchases ranging from remote IT services and support to office furniture to personalized logo items to food and gifts.

An ABN membership is free to any participating business. Depending upon the goods or services desired, members can apply a promotional code to a purchase, use a savings coupon, swipe a member card, or enroll in a member company's own discount program. Total savings can be significant – some of ABN's partners offer discounts of 80 percent on purchased goods and services.

The number of businesses joining buying groups such as Allied Business Network has more than tripled over the past year. That's no surprise – wages for the Jan.-Mar. 2008 quarter were down 0.6 percent, even as prices continue to climb. As necessities like food and gasoline shrink personal and business budgets, consumers look for other ways to cut back.

While the American economic forecast might look gloomy, coupons, promotional codes, discounts – and of course, those hotly debated federal tax rebates – might help ease the pressure for many business owners.
