Green Laws Begin to Effect Real Estate Investors

Real Estate Investing Podcast Takes the Time to Understand the Labyrinth of Environmentally Friendly “Green Laws.”

Mooresville, NC, May 15, 2008 --(PR.com)-- When Chip Ahlswede, Public Affairs strategist, and former Chair of the National Association of REALTORS® Government Affairs Directors was a special guest on Get Real, The Real Estate Investing Show for the Rest of Us, part of the interview revolved around the current push to regulate home remodelers and real estate investors to use “green” or environmentally friendly methods of rehabilitating homes.

Mr. Ahlswede explained to the real estate investing audience that there are many new regulatory issues pending across the country to regarding green building due to the current popularity of this topic and global warming. Many municipalities are legislating real estate investors who rehab homes to use more efficient forms of construction. It was explained that this a positive outcome but the execution in the short term may be cost prohibitive. To remodel a home with all new windows and upgrading insulation behind existing walls may make it too difficult to execute and increase the costs beyond the price range of the first time home buyer that many real estate investors focus on as their main market.

Chip provided the real estate investors listening to the show with many alternatives to present to their local municipalities who are considering this legislation. He recommended as real estate investors to become educated on many of the new standards and develop additional revenue streams as inspectors and consultants of these new standards assisting others in the real estate investing industry with the current changes.
