Cyber Institute Works with Governor’s Office on Proclamation for Women and Minorities in the Cyber Workforce

Denver, CO, August 20, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Cyber Institute’s Center for Women and Minorities in the Cyber Workforce, received a Proclamation from Governor Hickenlooper's office proclaiming August 20th as Women and Minorities in the Cyber Workforce Day. Taylor Rodriguez Vance, Executive Director for the Center for Women and Minorities in the Cyber Workforce worked closely with the Governor’s Office to not only raise awareness for cybersecurity but to raise awareness for the need to increase efforts to involve more women and minorities in the cyber workforce. Taylor said, “less than 10% of women and less than 12% of minorities are represented in cyber”. Her Center’s research revealed that increasing women and minority diversity increases cognitive diversity towards solving cybersecurity problems. Her nonprofit leverages the power of collaborative partnerships to enable greater collective impact. The Center for Women & Minorities in the Cyber Workforce is working with partners like ISC2 Center for Cyber Safety and Education, Markel Foundation’s Skillful, the National CyberWatch Center, Discover Goodwill, CareerWise, Fourth Axis Games, and more, to increase the number of women and minorities in cyber. She believes that removing barriers of entry and interest is key to increasing the workforce and this proclamation is a perfect way to support that.
