Maine Advantage Lenders Commit to 2008-2009 School Year

Lewiston, ME, May 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Maine Advantage Education Loan Program, serviced by FISC Solutions, is pleased to announce lenders have committed to originate new loans for the 2008- 2009 school year.

In 1998, FISC partnered with community banks and credit unions to offer a Maine education loan program, to assist Maine students and parents with paying for college. In the past year the student loan industry has been greatly affected by challenges of credit market and regulatory changes. Despite these challenges, the Maine Advantage lenders have committed to offering student loans for the 2008-2009 school year.

“For our lenders it speaks volumes of their commitment to continue offering loans during these difficult times,” said FISC’s Vice President of Operations Jill Parker. “We are thrilled to have so many lenders continue to support and help Maine families despite the fact that so many large national lenders have discontinued their programs,” she added. “It is our hope as the market condition improves, we will not only continue offering student loans, but we will also be able to reinstate the generous benefits that the Maine Advantage Education Loan Program has had in the past.”

Lenders committed to 2008- 2009 school year include:

Acadia Federal Credit Union
