Santa Ana College Expands Adult Financial Literacy Classes

Santa Ana, CA, May 23, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Santa Ana College (SAC) has joined with WallStreet University, Inc. (WSU), a developer and provider of on-line investor education courses headquartered in Costa Mesa, CA, to offer WSU’s live financial literacy workshops to adults.

To staff these 20 live workshops on campus with qualified instructors, WSU’s Certified Financial Literacy InstructorTM (CFLITM) program is now being offered to local advisors and agents through SAC’s Community Services Program.

In a June, 2007 national survey of investors by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc., FINRA™, 78% were anxious about losing money on their investments and 71% were anxious about outliving their retirement income. The vast majority of investors expressed a high degree of interest in investor education that was unbiased. SAC is in a unique position to provide that platform by simply expanding its current financial workshop offerings.

This collaboration between SAC and WSU will allow adults in the District access to a broad variety of unbiased one-night live investment workshops from managing your money to retirement planning and from mutual funds and annuities to stock options. The first class in this series to be offered this Summer is “Fixed Annuity...How Does It Fit Into Your Portfolio?” as an unbiased step for investors to discover if Fixed Annuities fit into their investment portfolio.

"WallStreet University’s experience in adult investor education meets the increasing market demand for a highly educated investing public,” said Lithia Williams, Director, Community Services Program at Santa Ana College. Santa Ana College Community Services has always provided superior courses to our adult students and this collaboration allows us to maintain this in the financial literacy sector."

“This collaboration is important to us from two standpoints,” said William Nordstrom, WSU CEO. “In addition to providing a solution to the need for increasing adult financial literacy by providing a curriculum, we provide SAC with a program to qualify local instructors through the CFLI Program – a combination that is not only new but will enable over 1,000 Community Colleges across the country to become the focal points for financial literacy education. No investor will be more than minutes away from a credible source of unbiased education.”
