Hawaiian DVD for Children Wins Four Telly Awards
Mom owned production company takes passion for Hawaiian culture and creates award-winning DVD for young children.
Los Angeles, CA, May 29, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Local Girl Productions, Inc., sweeps the 29th Annual Telly Awards winning four Bronze statuettes in categories including Children’s Audience, Cultural, Use of Graphics, and Use of Music for “lil’ aloha babies™ – waves ‘n wonders.”
“lil’ aloha babies™ – waves ‘n wonders”, the first in a series of DVDs for children ages 0 to 4, is an entertaining aquatic adventure of Hawaii’s beautiful ocean and magnificent marine life. By combining stunning underwater photography, playful animation, fun graphics, and original music of Hawaii, children are immersed in an interactive journey of paradise. Learning words are introduced in both English and Hawaiian.
The idea was born out of pure passion and love for Hawaii. “It’s tradition for Hawaiians to share the spirit of aloha with others”, says Tammy Apana, President, and mother of two. Tammy, who is of Hawaiian decent, came up with the idea when her first child was only three weeks old. “We were listening to Hawaiian music and he was absolutely mesmerized. That was his first introduction into his heritage but I wanted to give him more.”
Tammy often reminisces about growing up in a home surrounded by Hawaiian music and dancing. “At all of our family parties, my dad would be strumming his ukulele, my mom singing, and my sister and I doing the hula.” Living apart from her family, Tammy was trying to think of ways to give her children the same cultural exposure she had growing up.
