Balsman Photography Supports Tour de Cure Colorado with Portraits

Beginning now and continuing until August 23rd, 2008, Kim Balsman of Balsman Photography in Longmont, CO offers individuals or families in search of portraits a way to help cure a deadly disease.

Longmont, CO, May 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Kim’s husband, Bob, has been a type 1 diabetic since 1991 at the age of 23. Having type 1 diabetes means his body no longer produces insulin on its own and cannot regulate his blood sugar. Instead, he must supply insulin through injections or a pump and measure his blood sugar several times a day in order to avoid complications of diabetes like blindness, heart disease, and nerve damage. There currently is no cure for this chronic disease that affects 20.8 million babies, children and adults in the United States (or 7% of the population). However, the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure Colorado annual fund raising event in Longmont helps raise money for research in hope of curing diabetes. Joining Tour de Cure this year, Bob formed his own Tour de Cure team, Bob’s Bikers, with a team goal of $3,000.

Kim is supporting her husband’s fund raising efforts with the offer of a portrait package designed to raise money for the Tour de Cure Colorado. For the purchase price of $149, Kim provides a certificate good for a studio session, an 11x14 print, 8 wallets, and a $50 framing credit. Out of each certificate sold, Kim donates $100 to the Bob’s Bikers team and the Tour de Cure Colorado. The regular retail value of the certificate is $373, making this not only a great way to raise funds, but also a great savings. The certificate is good until May 31, 2009 and can be used for photographing high school seniors, families, babies, children, or pets. Selling just 30 of these packages would meet the Bob’s Bikers team goal of $3,000.

There are a number of ways to help cure this deadly disease: join the Bob’s Bikers team and ride with them at the Tour de Cure Colorado event in Longmont on August 23rd, purchase the Balsman Photography Tour de Cure Portrait Package, or visit Bob’s Bikers on the Internet at http://main.diabetes.org/goto/bobsbikers to make a donation of any amount. All who help in any way to cure diabetes are sincerely appreciated.
