Baxa Corporation Launches PACT™ Product Line at the ASHP Summer Meeting

Baxa is promoting its new PACT (Productivity and Compliance Tools) product line at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists 2008 Summer Meeting and Exhibition beginning today at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle. The PACT line includes products and services designed to help pharmacies improve patient-care efficiencies and simplify compliance with state and federal regulations.

Denver, CO, June 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Baxa Corporation is launching a new product line – Productivity and Compliance Tools, or PACT – at the annual ASHP Summer Meeting and Exhibition. The PACT line includes products and services designed to help pharmacies improve patient-care efficiencies and simplify compliance with state and federal regulations. Current products within the PACT line are the Skills Training, Academics and Resources (STAR) Center, the MedBoard™ Medication Tracking System and the CriticalPoint™ online training modules.

“Baxa focuses on products and services that promote pharmacy best practices and support compliance to the guidelines under USP Chapter 797-Sterile Compounding,” notes Phil Wettestad, Baxa Pharmacy Operations Specialist. “The ASHP meeting gives us an opportunity to launch the PACT product line to a targeted audience interested in improving the state of pharmacy practice.”

During the exhibition, at the Baxa booth, no. 619, representatives will demonstrate the MedBoard and CriticalPoint software and promote the new training classes offered at the STAR Center, a state-of-the art cleanroom, pharmacy and training facility located at the company’s headquarters in Englewood, Colorado. The center was purpose-built to support training in aseptic technique, pharmacy workflow and practice, cleanroom design and maintenance and USP 797 compliance among other topics. Visitors to the Baxa booth will have an opportunity to participate in a drawing for a complimentary Hazardous Drug Handling course. Classes are taught by industry-recognized subject matter experts.

The MedBoard Medication Tracking System, part of the PACT line, is the first wireless tracking system designed to record pharmacy preparation and delivery activities. The Web-based MedBoard helps health systems improve productivity through order prioritization and delivery assurance, reducing time spent fielding nursing calls and tracking order status. Using MedBoard, pharmacies can reduce the time spent tracking missing doses and communicating order status to other departments, as well as eliminating the expense of replacing lost orders.

Over the course of the three-day meeting, Baxa also is introducing the newly updated CriticalPoint online training modules. These provide interactive Web-based training for compounding sterile preparations. This step-by-step, online training consists of 32 individual modules that build a foundation of best practice for pharmacists and technicians involved in sterile compounding. Developed by industry experts, CriticalPoint provides a cost-effective means to comply with the aseptic training requirements for USP 797.
