Maple Golf Classic to Benefit Under-Resourced Youth in Costa Mesa


Costa Mesa, CA, June 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- On August 28, 2008, the 9th annual Maple Charity Golf Classic will take place at Tijeras Creek Golf Club to benefit the Maple Learning Center in Costa Mesa.

The 9th annual Maple Charity Golf Classic will take place on August 28th 2008 at the Tijeras Creek Golf Club. This golf tournament will benefit under-resourced youth in the city of Costa Mesa.

All proceeds of the Maple Charity Golf Tournament go directly to support the Maple Learning Center, which provides tutoring and mentoring for under-resourced youth in Costs Mesa. The Maple Learning Center works in partnership with MIKA Community Development Corporation to break the cycle of poverty by meeting identified needs and developing leaders from within under-resourced neighborhoods.

Multiple sponsorship opportunities are available and will allow for increasing recognition by the dollar level. Each sponsorship packages include golf, carts, lunch, awards dinner for each golfer, and one tee/green sign. Sponsorship packages start at the Diamond Sponsor for $10,000, including 12 golfers and prominent signage and recognition as a tournament sponsor at the event.

Individual golfers can also donate money and prizes to support the Maple Charity Golf Tournament. Players can register for the tournament at www.maplelearningcenter.com.

Mrs. Janis King, the principal of Pomona Elementary School talks about benefits of the Maple Learning Center. “This individualized instruction is invaluable to these students. The classroom teacher and the parents noted improvement of their children with great satisfaction. The students are progressing at a rapid rate.”

The founder and board member of MIKA CDC, Mark Orphan says, “There is no question that the Maple Learning Center is addressing key issues facing kids in underserved neighborhoods in Costa Mesa. Literacy, character development, and gang prevention are all clear outcomes for the youth this program serves.”
