United Nations Chinese Language Program Getting Interactive with Diplomats

Over 100 United Nations Diplomats and Staff Signing up to Utilize Cutting-Edge Interactive Multimedia Language Program.

New York, NY, June 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Over 100 diplomats and staff members at the United Nations’ New York headquarters have signed up to learn Mandarin language by using the multimedia program developed by ActiveChinese, Inc., the San Francisco and Shanghai based developer. The program allows the U.N. personnel to study Mandarin for personal use, or to equip them with the language and cultural skills for present, as well as future, China-related assignments.

Dr. Yong Ho, the head of the Chinese Language Program at the United Nations (unclp.org), chose ActiveChinese not just because of the scope of the curriculum and the animated presentation, but also its mobility. “Although our U.N. Chinese Language Program has a deep reservoir of reference material, U.N. personnel need a compelling online environment in order to study this difficult language.”

Dr. Ho particularly liked the “interactive format and online lessons which allow U.N. personnel to study without an instructor and while traveling.” He also added that “students are either UN staff members or diplomats from various missions to the U.N. They are very international in that most people are non-Americans.”

Larry Chen, CEO of ActiveChinese, feels “this is a great recognition of our product quality and versatility, and we are honored to be associated with the United Nations. The variety of U.N. personnel who have signed up to use the ActiveChinese program demonstrates the growing interest and need at all levels at the U.N. to learn Chinese.”
