Action Party Participation in Morton Grove’s July 4th Parade

Besides their veteran members and new supporters, the Action Party’s entry into this year’s parade will also include a selection of rare, vintage WW2-era American military vehicles.

Morton Grove, IL, July 02, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Morton Grove’s Annual Independence Day Parade will kick-off on July 4, 2008 at 2:30 pm from Dempster & Central Streets (just off the Edens Expressway) and move west to Harrer Park on Dempster Street. Participating will be a number of people and organizations from the local community along with marching bands from area schools. More information about the Parade, Fireworks and the Morton Grove Days Festival can be found at the Morton Grove Park District’s website: http://www.mortongroveparks.com/special.php#mgdays

Morton Grove’s Action Party Trustees Dan Staackmann, Shel Marcus and John Thill will participate by marching with the Village Board and then double-back to be with their friends in the Action Party. Also, Senior Village Trustee Staackmann has been working hard selling raffle tickets to raise money for this year’s fireworks so that everyone can enjoy this great holiday.

Trustee John Thill, who is President of the Friends of Morton Grove Forest Preserves (http://www.friendsofthemortongroveforestpreserves.org/index.html), will do triple duty on Independence Day and march with that organization later on in the parade.

Former Morton Grove Mayor Dan Scanlon (a long-time Action Party Member) will also participate this year with his “band of brothers” from the American Legion Post 134 in Morton Grove (http://www.legion.org/homepage.php); one of the area’s most active posts. Dan Scanlon was honored earlier this year by the Action Party for his service to this country in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 during the Second World War (where his American Legion friends provided Mayor Scanlon’s color guard). Dan is also an Honorary Post Commander of 134. Dan Scanlon is truly one of Morton Grove’s finest examples of what Tom Brokaw labeled “America’s Greatest Generation”.

The Action Party was formed with one goal in mind: “To support and maintain effective, honest, open, scandal-free and non-partisan municipal government in the Village of Morton Grove.” More information about the Action Party of Morton Grove can be found at: www.actionparty.org.
