Northern Video's Popular IP Roadshow Heads to New York

Rocklin, CA, July 02, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Northern Video's successful IP Roadshow pulls into New York City on July 16th, the sixth stop on the nine city tour of the United States in 2008. The Roadshow, which kicked off in San Francisco in January of this year, provides free IP training and much more to physical security dealers and integrators. This event is designed to help security professionals learn how to translate their customer's needs into IP-driven solutions.

"I think it is a great event for people who sell or are interested in selling IP-based security products", said Mike Leary, who leads Northern Video's IP Solutions Group. "The event allows our customers to view some of the IP product that is available, talk to technical representatives of many of the leading manufacturers in the physical security field and receive training on technology and product. Best of all it is free!"

Mr. Leary is the instructor of 'IP Networks: An Introductory Course'. "This is an accredited course, not a sales pitch," he said. "It is designed to provide the attendees with a basic understanding of IP and how IP networks operate. The focus is on Internet Protocol, networking concepts, IP addressing, and identifying network devices and their use. We also provide a brief overview of some basic guidelines for network planning, design and implementation." The day-long IP Roadshow event includes other courses with topics including wireless ethernet technologies, data storage, guerrilla networking and the convergence of analog and IP systems. Some of these Roadshow sessions also have been approved by NBFAA/NTS for continuing education units (CEU).

Since the Roadshow kicked off last January, more than 600 dealers, integrators and installers have received training and attended demonstrations by industry-leading manufacturers such as Sony, Panasonic, Bosch, HID, Toshiba, ARM Electronics, PCSC, Azalea Networks, EverFocus, Dedicated Micros, and many others.

"(The IP Roadshow is) a high energy event that provides an interactive forum for security professionals who want to learn the 'How-to's' of IP surveillance", said Bill Abowd from Sony Security.

The Roadshow rolls on into Boston on August 13, followed by Chicago on November 19, with the final show of 2008 in Seattle on December 17. According to Leary, "The 2008 IP Roadshow series was such a success that we will be taking the show on the road again in 2009, and we'll be adding some new cities and new content. We are busy firming up the schedule and plan to publish it soon."
